Hero-U and more

Big news! I’m the newest programmer on the Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption team.

Hero-U is an adventure roleplaying game by Lori and Corey Cole, who created Quest for Glory at Sierra in 1989. Hero-U is very much in that same spirit: a cheerful, narratively engaging adventure-RPG hybrid with branching paths, skill advancement, turn-based combat, and a slew of dubious puns. (You can see their 2015 Kickstarter here.)

If I weren’t on the team, I’d be thrilled to play Hero-U once it releases. Since I am on the team now (and reading through all the confidential, behind-the-scenes goodness) I can confidently say that it’s going to be amazing. Our goal is to launch by the end of 2016, so I can prove it to you then!

But – no matter how hard I try (and believe me, I have tried!) there are only 24 hours in the day, and some of them need to be used for things like sleep, work-life balance, ChoiceScript, and giving the dog tummy rubs. And since I can’t come up with more time, something’s got to be backburnered.

Joining the Hero-U team also stabilizes my income significantly. Consequently, I’m shutting down my Patreon creator page. I won’t be shutting down Sibyl Moon, but the release schedule will become significantly more irregular. (Rather like October-November last year, except without a visible end date.)

In closing, thanks now and always for stopping by. Your comments, emails, and Twitter messages always brighten my day, and I’m glad to be surrounded by such a warm and supportive community.

Cheers,
Carolyn
